A cheap new hobby or a quick way to break a leg?

October 13, 2008 - 11:27 am

I used to ice skate… a lot… 4 week nights and 5 hours on a sunday, every week for over 6 years

However the more and more I got into modified cars, and moved away from Doncaster where I used to skate, I slowly stopped going

I regret that massively, since then I’ve spent most of my time sat behind a computer screen gaining weight and getting more and more unhealthy

Recently I was on holiday at CenterParcs with my girflriend, who forced me to go inline skating with her. I’ve always steared clear of it as when I was younger I tried once and nearly broke my knee finding out that you can’t do a sliding stop on inline skates…
Anyway I gave it a go and much to my suprise its quiet a lot like ice skating and I was quite good at it

So back at home feeling a bit daft I thought this is a way for me to keep fit without a 30mile drive to the local ice rink… so bid on a set on ebay

I won them for £19.53 delivered!!! Don’t you just love ebay!
I don’t know if they’re any good, they’re made by bauer (which my £400+ ice hockey boots were made by so I assume they’re not bad)

Votes as to whether ..
a) I’ll never use them
b) I’ll break my leg
or
c) I’ll start an exciting new hobby
.. on a postcard

I’m gunna vote for a combo of a and b, you wont use them, and then you’ll trip over them in your garage one day and break your leg…

hee hee i vote for all of them. This is how it will go, you will start your exciting new hobby and on the second week we will have more confidence which will lead you to doing something cocky, like jumping over something you will bail landing on your knee breaking your leg, then you will be angry at the skates and never use them but they will sit in a cupboard and every time you see them you will growl at them! hee hee hee!

You’re probably both pretty close. So far I’ve just sort of looked at them with a fear somewhere deep down…
